António Baptista
Eye Scientist
A lecturer and researcher specialising in vision science and applied physics. His work focuses on visual epidemiology, intraocular lenses and optical instrumentation, including technologies for vision assessment and rehabilitation. He teaches and conducts research at the Department and Centre of Physics, University of Minho, Portugal.
Pedro Serra
Eye Scientist
A physicist specialising in visual optics, with a Master’s and PhD in the field. His work spans clinical practice, teaching and research in ophthalmology and optometry, focused on translating vision science into clinical practice. Principal Investigator at Ophthalmology Clinic Sánchez Trancón (Sanoptis), Spain.
Ivo Soares
Eye Scientist
An optometrist and physicist researcher specialising in biomedical image processing and vision science. His work focuses on advanced algorithms for retinal image analysis, clinical optometry, and translating computational tools into practical eye care. He conducts his research and academic support activities at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), Portugal.
Rui Pinge
Software Engineer
A software engineer who writes software with AI, and builds products that use it. Built the ICL Calculator, and builds and runs everything Treeye publishes — the site, the tools, and the platform they will move onto. Based in Lisbon.
Partnership
Where the clinical work happens
Much of the group’s research is carried out with Ophthalmology Clinic Sánchez Trancón in Badajoz, Spain, part of the Sanoptis group. It is where the surgical data behind the ICL work comes from, and where several of us hold clinical and research roles.
The group also works with the University of Beira Interior and the Physics Centre of Minho and Porto Universities.
